I am wanting to raise as much money as possible for Scarborough MENCAP for multiple reasons.
MENCAP has been a place of work for me for 2 years while I was completing a full time degree in psychology and counselling. I worked here in the school holidays and it is the most incredible place to be a part of.
Not only are the staff inspiring to work with. They are genuinely passionate about thier support roles and the service users. They are extremely kind and supportive of one another.
The service users are the most amazing group of young children up to adults who I looked forward to going to work to see. Not enough people local are aware of MENCAP and the wonderful work they do.
I am hoping to go back during the holidays to volunteer. But I am currently studying for my PGCE in biology secondary education. I believe the skills I have learnt from MENCAP has changed my outlook on SEND and neurodiversity, especially in an educational setting. I have all this to thank the wonderful people I have met and become friends with here at MENCAP.
I love running and wanted to put it to some use. I managed to get a place in the London Marathon on the ballot system meaning I can donate to any charity of my choice.
Please help me to reach my target and make a direct donation to a wonderful local charity.
